History of the firm
The firm was originally constituted as a partnership of Robert Neil Hodgson and Michael Coulthard when they set up in 1991. Both partners were local to the area and this local knowledge allowed them to provide a service tailored to the specific needs of the local population. At that stage the firm carried out a wide and varied case load from criminal matters to family law, wills & probate to conveyancing. It enabled the local population to have most of their legal requirements met without having to travel to any of the larger towns or cities in the area. Consequently the firm thrived and established a large local client base. At various stages the firm has operated from multiple offices at the same time in the locality but now operates solely from its Glendale House base.
In 2013 Michael Coulthard retired from the partnership and the firm thereafter was operated by Mr Hodgson as a regulated sole practitioner under the style of Hodgson Coulthard & Co. Mr Coulthard remained as a consultant to the firm for a short period before being appointed as a District Judge (Civil).
From that point Mr Hodgson decided that the firm should concentrate solely on criminal matters therefore allowing the firm to provide a more focused, streamlined service to the client.
Many partners, associates, assistants and consultants have worked for the firm over its long history but the firm’s principles have always remained the same.
The firm continues to strive to provide the best possible advice and representation to all its clients.
